Tom Koole, professeur émérite en sciences du langage, université de Groningen : « Known Information Question: the notorious teacher question to which s/he already knows the answer »

The use of such questions in classrooms has often been assessed as negative and I would like to show that a KIQ is not an action in itself but a practice by which different types of action can be performed. Any assessment of the use of KIQs should be based on an analysis of the action it performs. An action that I will pay particular attention to is the KIQ that produces student knowledge rather than checks it. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Tom-Koole
